Beautiful Dimba People
Martin writes... After endless days of horrendous roads, we left the main route and headed towards the small village of Otchinjau - this lead to the Namibian border crossing in Ruacana. The route quickly became a single sand lane interspersed with rocky dry river-bed crossings.  Towards Chitado we encountered the beautiful Dimba tribe.

The Dimba Tribe of Southern Angola, closely linked to the Northern Namibian Himba tribe, are a vibrant tribe still holding onto traditional customs, language and dress.  Making the most of passing vehicles, especially the odd tourists, the ladies quickly approached and after a bit of sign-language, we handed over some food for a chance to take their photos.

Vivacious Ladies

It is truly difficult to write about these people, their beautiful smiles and bubbly personalities, so we will let you 'feel' the energy with these few photographs. (As with most black Africans - they do not smile for cameras.)
