An early morning start (8am) and a fantastic new tar road, which opened only 5 months ago meant that we arrived at the border in a very quick time. Border formalities hardly existed... we handed in our carnet, it was stamped and then our passports were stamped. That was it for Cameroon... |

The Gabon entry formalities took place 30km inland from the actual border. The Douane (Customs) hardly blinked at our request and then the immigration lady asked for passport photocopies. It felt like a re-enactment from the website Expedition Overland. Michael and Sandy, from Expedition Overland, did a similar route in 2002 - and they also had all the hassles from the nasty immigration lady! Eventually spent the night in the grounds of a missionary association.
