Bafoulabe
A tranquil village, set under huge mango trees with locals chilling in the shade. The road to Bafoulabe (pronounced Buffalo Bay) was very challenging, so stopping for a cold coke and our first mango was a real treat!

Cooling down

Crossing the river was a little tricky as we were not allowed to drive over the railway bridge - cars too heavy! - so we had to take the local ferry crossing. After some negotiation with the 'director' we handed over 10Euros for the crossing.

Hippo-spotting

Some friendly fisherman offered to take us for a paddle down the river to view the local hippos.  The pirogue was overloaded with seven adults, so we opted to step off while the others paddled closer...
