About to depart the ferry |
The ferry to the Spanish Enclave of Cueta only takes 35min so before we
knew it we were told to return to our vehicles and prepare to disembark.
The town of Cueta did not offer much so straight onto the the border post
where Debs and Michele sneakily snapped off a few pics before getting
caught. The chap below chatting to Steve and I 'volunteered' his border
services and as a result we got through fairly simply. 3rd Party
insurance for our Land Rover cost 900Dirhams (90Euro).
The one mishap we had was the Motorola walkie talkies. We had stupidly
forgotten to hide them so when customs found them we had a bit of
explaining to do. In the end our 'Guide' persuaded customs that they
were for in-car comms only. We are sure he had nothing to do with
resolving the issue but insisted on a tip.

Stopping in our first
Moroccan town gave us the opportunity to use the ATM to withdraw a few
Dirhams. The currency is a closed currency which means that no money may
enter the country or leave the country. Banks outside Morocco do not offer
currency exchange rates.
The Cueta Coast |
Entering our first Moroccan town |
Heading to the coastal
town of LaRache we stopped along a small mountain pass for a cuppa tea. A
Moroccan lady offered her blowing services to get Steve & Michele's kelly
kettle burning so that we could have our cuppa.
