Martin writes... to complete our full trans-Africa trip, a number of visas
are required. Today we applied for our Mali visa in the city of Rabat.
We took the opportunity to use the small boats to cross the river from
Sale to Rabat. Along the banks of the river are a number of young men all
with a small boat and basic oars. The cost is 1.5Dirham (about 1p) and only takes a
few minutes to cross the river. See the video clip for some boating
action. |

Once on the shores of Rabat, we hailed down two petit blue taxis, licenced
to carry three passengers max. Steve & Michele, with the Mali Embassy
address hopped in the first taxi and the two of us gave chase in the 2nd.
The drive to the embassy was like a rally car race with each driver
hooting, braking and accelerating simultaneously. The process for the Mali
visa takes 24hours, costs 250Dirham each (£20) and is very easy to
complete.
