28 June 04 - Welcome home Maggie

Welcome Home Maggie

Maggie is a Land Rover that has travelled more parts of Africa over the years than many of us will ever. She has also been 'shipped' from the Southern Hemisphere to the Northern Hemisphere a number of times.  I can honestly say that if Maggie did not need Debbie and I to steer her, she would find her own way back to Africa and the many dusty roads that she knows so well.

And so, it seems fitting that over the weekend, I headed up to Elgin, Scotland (whilst Debbie worked) to meet with Colin and Wendy and to finally take ownership of Maggie.

Maggie has been de-kitted to pass her UK MOT test so all the kit was on Colin's folks farm (near Cullen). This meant that most of Saturday was spent 'kitting her out' with all her existing equipment. Firstly we tackled the roofrack, then the spare wheel carrier and any other bits that needed to come off for the MOT test.

Throughout the day, Colin's folks plied us with teas, coffees, lunch and general assistance. Many thanks folks!!

Colin and Wendy now run the Pines Guesthouse. Click on the link below for contact details. A visit is a must!! But be warned, they have the ability to make you dream and to give you the desire to follow your own dreams!
