South, via Central Africa:

This route South was a very popular route back in the 90's. Only the really tough have crossed DR Congo and most of the trips have been back packers or motorbikes. No 4x4s (that I know of) have crossed the DR Congo in the last decade. 

Thanks to Mobile Medics, a route via CAR, Congo, Southern Sudan into Uganda is now open.

If we opt for this route South, it will be based on a convoy of vehicles ideally with a French translator!!
