En-route to Kubu Island, Makgadikgadi Pans
Debbie writes...

Dust, dust and more dust! Nothing quite compares to this fine, white, powdery dust which gets everywhere! Once one of Africa's biggest inland lakes, this area now consists of the vast Makgadikgadi salt pans. There is unique mystique about its beauty and stark nothingness.

GPS Route Information

The salt crunches under your feet and the further inland you walk, the stickier it becomes. Driving on our own, we decided to be cautious and stick close to the main track.

Guess who?

Why?

Australia has the 'Rabbit Proof Fence' - Botswana has the 'Game Fence'.  This double-layer fence stretches across Botswana, preventing the wild animals from intermixing with live-stock from the locals (imagine a cross zebra-cow?). It is not a good sight to see and has been known to have killed off thousands of Wildebeest and Zebra - especially during the dry season when the animals attempt to head north for water.

 Are we there yet?
