Dogon Village
Another surprise awaited us as we drove into a town called Sindou. Stopping to register our presence with the local gendarmerie, we were approached by 'Papa' who told us about the history of the area, and gave us the option to explore the origin of the Dogon people. The Dogon area in Mali is famed for its unique architecture and culture. A unique aspect is that the Dogon live in caves along a 150km ridge in Mali.

In the 1500's, it is believed that the current Dogon people lived in Sindou, Burkina Faso, before being forced to move North by invading tribes. It is truly fascinating to see how this tribe lived on the side of a mountain in small dome-shaped huts.
