| Settling down for the evening with the rangers we had the opportunity to hear all about the park history and how the rangers work. Each ranger was on assignment for 7 days during which they would walk an average of 20km per day. The patrol days started with breakfast around 6ish, then each ranger filled his water bottle, and headed for a routine patrol. They each carried an old .270 rifle (either Russian or Italian), although most of the rifles were missing rear sights so aiming was not possible. |
