Baby Duty
Africa consists of lots of people ... and with lots of people, comes lots of babies. Every young girl carries a tiny baby on her back, while she goes about her normal day-to-day chores. We spent a lovely day with a group of women and girls watching them prepare a type of 'peat' in the scorching sun over blazing fires ... this while tending to their little babies too.

It is fascinating to see how the younger sisters (anything from 3yrs+) are required to look after their baby siblings, while their mother works the fields. At one stage two young mothers walked up to Debbie and Sameena and gave them their babies, while they went back to work. The little baby girls were very good - even though they had these weird looking 'white' people looking down on them. Due to the hot climates, babies don't wear nappies - both Debbie and Sameena each had a little accident take place on their laps...
