Travelling along the road to Safi (from Casablanca) was, for us, the start
of rural Morocco. The Atlantic coast ranged from huge sea fronting cliffs
to open beaches. We had started the day driving through the towns
industrial area and our initial thoughts were that the guide book was well
outdated. Eventually the industrial area thinned out and all that
remained was the sea view.

The little girl below
knew exactly what we had to offer - and that was cash and lots of
'bits' lying about in the front of the Land Rovers. For 1Dirham, we
could buy a lolly pop - for an open door, she offered you sweats and
whilst you looked her right hand darted in and was quick to grab anything
it touched. Michele had to use all her limbs just to keep her at
bay.
