16 June 04 - Comrades Marathon, South Africa

Random Thoughts and Dreams

This time last year I was pounding the road in an attempt to complete the gruelling Comrades ultra marathon in South Africa. Comrades Marathon is an ultimate endurance race covering 89km through Natal's Valley of thousand hills. This year, I sit at home working but my mind keeps pondering the 8hrs 51min it took me to complete the race.

Last night I had a dream where in my dream I had travelled up to Elgin to collect the Defender.  I arrived in good time only to find out that I had left the Discovery's paperwork behind (Vehicle Registration documents). As a result I could not part exchange the Discovery for the Defender and was stuck in an awkward position. I tried calling people to help but no one knew where the paperwork was.  That was the dream - very frustrating!

The days are ticking by very slowly. Business is ticking along at an average rate so it makes my life hard as I can't keep focused on work whilst this trip is brewing in my mind.

But not long to go before we pack the Land Rover and head for the African continent.
