19 January 2005 - It's Final!
Martin writes... It's FINAL - We will be boarding the Dover to Dunkerque ferry on Saturday 22nd January 2005! The ferry departs at 14:45 and we will be crossing the channel for 2 hours before docking on French soil!

After six months of planning a lot has been going through my mind - especially today when Debbie and I drove to Heathrow to hand over the keys of our Honda Civic (Thanks Hennie for being willing to look after it for a year).  The next couple of days are going to be interesting - first thing tomorrow the 'Car Window' man will arrive to replace Maggie's front windscreen (which got chipped last week). Then I am off to the barber and finally to Dell Computers (work place) to say my farewell to everyone.

Debbie writes...

The postman arrived this morning with Martin's British passport and all of a sudden our trip began to feel real!  This was confirmation that our adventure was due to start this Sat (22 Jan).  With mountains of things still to finalize, I suddenly began to feel extremely overwhelmed...

Friends to see, stuff to sort, goodies to buy, things to pack ... the list seemed endless!

As I write, I am in a state of 'nervous-calm' whilst I ponder all the things to do.  I know the adrenalin will get me through the next couple of days - but will it help me with the overwhelming sadness of saying goodbye to family and friends?

The excitement and enthusiasm of our family and friends has been incredible - their passion and support has been undying and helped me hugely in readying myself mentally!

Here's to the start of our 'African Adventure' ... and to sharing our experiences along the way...

Bon Voyage!
Ready and Willing!
